De Bruyne’s Shocking Missing Period for Napoli

Corriere dello Sport revealed the expected absence period for Kevin De Bruyne from Napoli following his recent injury in the last match against Inter.

Napoli announced in an official statement that De Bruyne had undergone surgery for a severe tear in his thigh muscle. The club did not specify the length of his absence, but initial reports indicated that it would be at least two months.

According to the Italian newspaper, De Bruyne had been offered conservative treatment, but he opted for surgery in the hope of returning before the end of the season and participating with the Belgian national team in the 2026 World Cup.

Due to this operation, De Bruyne will need at least four months to return to action, and his absence could extend to five months. This currently depends on the 34-year-old’s muscle response and his rehabilitation program.

This isn’t the first time De Bruyne has suffered a muscle injury. He also suffered the same injury in August 2023, missing five months for Manchester City.

Ultimately, De Bruyne is fighting tooth and nail in the hope of participating in his fourth World Cup with Belgium, and the final of his career. Initial indications suggest the former City star will have a very difficult task.
