Kevin De Bruyne needed 57 minutes to make his debut for Napoli in Serie A.
The Belgian international played against Sassuolo in the first round of the Serie A season, scoring his first goal for the southern club.
De Bruyne took advantage of a free kick from Napoli’s left flank, firing past the goalkeeper and giving Antonio Conte’s side their second goal of the match.
De Bruyne became the oldest player, excluding goalkeepers, to start their first Serie A match for Napoli since the introduction of the three-point-for-a-win rule (since the 1994-95 season), according to Opta.
Scott McTominay scored the first goal in the match, which Napoli won 2-0.
It’s worth noting that Napoli are the defending Serie A champions, and De Bruyne joined the club on a free transfer after his legendary career with Manchester City ended.
