Ralph Rangnick, coach of the Austrian national team, is close to taking over as coach of Bayern Munich, succeeding Thomas Tuchel, in light of advanced negotiations between the two parties in the last hours.
According to the newspaper “Bild”, the German club already made an offer to Rangnick two days ago, and the coach is currently studying it, and the most likely thing is that he will accept this exceptional experience.
In this case, Bayern Munich will have to enter into negotiations with the Austrian national team, given that the German coach’s contract there still extends until the 2026 World Cup.
If Rangnick takes over as coach of Bayern, he will begin his mission after the end of Austria’s participation in Euro 2024, which is scheduled to be held in Germany starting mid-June.
Rangnick was more famous as a sporting director than a coach, but he returned to the spotlight after a not-so-good experience with Manchester United as interim coach after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed and before Erik Ten Hag took over.
During that period, Rangnick’s relationship with United’s number one star at the time, Cristiano Ronaldo, deteriorated significantly, and “The Don” later said that he never considered him a coach or a leader during his journey at Old Trafford.
