Conflicting reports about Urs Fischer’s position as Al Ahly coach

Urs Fischer’s name has become the most popular in Egypt in recent hours, after it was said that he is currently the most likely choice to coach Al Ahly, replacing the sacked coach José Rivero.

Fischer is one of the most prominent coaches in the German Bundesliga in recent years, having successfully returned Union Berlin to the Bundesliga and leading them to their first-ever Champions League appearance.

The Swiss left the capital club at the beginning of the season before last due to poor results, and has not returned to coaching since then.

Egyptian media reported that Al Ahly wants Fischer to be its coach, and that the good relationship between the Red Devils and his agent, Dino Lamberti, who is also the agent of former coach Marcel Koller, will greatly facilitate the process.

Swiss media reported on the possibility of Fischer moving to Egypt and contacted assistant coach Markus Hofmann, who denied these rumors.

Hofmann said, “We see our future in Europe, and we have rejected several offers from Saudi Arabia.”

The picture remains unclear regarding the coach’s approval, while the Al-Ahly management is trying to quickly resolve the matter of the new coach amidst pressure from fans to make up for the club’s poor start to the season.
