Chelsea star: It’s impossible to say ‘no’ to Barcelona

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has admitted it would be difficult for him to refuse a move to Barcelona if the opportunity arose.

The Spanish international graduated from La Masia academy and at one point was expected to be a key player in Barça’s first team.

With Jordi Alba as the first-choice right-back at the time, Cucurella sought new opportunities to develop his game. After a loan spell at Eibar, he moved to Getafe. His impressive performances at the Coliseum Albion caught the eye of Brighton, and in 2022, he made his fourth move in five years, signing for Chelsea for €65 million.

Speaking to Marca ahead of Spain’s match against Egypt, Cucurella stated that he would find it difficult to turn down a return to his boyhood club.

The Chelsea star said, “It would be difficult to say no. It’s not just about me; I have to think about my family too. If it happens, it will happen, and then we’ll see what decision is made.”

He also expressed his desire to return to La Liga, saying, “You always think about going back. My family and I are very happy there (in Spain). I’ll leave that for a few years.”

Cucurila seems to be outside Barcelona’s price range at the moment, at least for next summer, especially since the left-back position isn’t a top priority for the Catalan club at the moment.
