Egypt international winger Haissem Hassan is on the verge of completing a summer transfer from Real Oviedo to Scottish champions Celtic, marking a major step in his career following his standout displays at the 2026 World Cup.
According to journalist George Tsarouchas, Hassan has accepted Celtic’s contract offer, agreeing to a four-year deal, while Real Oviedo is ready to give the green light to seal the transfer.
Only minor financial details remain under negotiation between the two clubs—specifically bonus structures and performance add-ons—before the Egyptian international’s move to Glasgow is officially finalized.
Celtic’s move comes after weeks of tracking the player, whose impressive performances for Egypt during the World Cup, most notably in the Round of 16 clash against Argentina, caught the attention of the Scottish giants.
Hassan’s current contract with Real Oviedo runs until June 2027. While previous reports indicated a release clause of around £10 million, Celtic remains confident of securing the transfer for a lower fee.
The 24-year-old primarily operates as a right winger but offers versatile attacking options, capable of playing on the left flank or as an attacking midfielder—a flexibility Celtic views as ideal for bolstering their wide areas.
Hassan began his senior career in France with Châteauroux before joining Villarreal. He subsequently spent loan spells at Mirandés and Sporting Gijón before completing a permanent transfer to Real Oviedo in the summer of 2024.
