The Algerian newspaper “Echorouk” confirmed that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has suspended the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) decision to award the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to the Moroccan national team.
CAF had previously stripped Senegal of the title, deeming the Lions of Teranga to have withdrawn from the final and consequently forfeiting the match 3-0, thus awarding the title to Morocco.
The Senegalese Football Federation appealed this decision to CAS, and the Switzerland-based court promptly addressed the controversial case.
According to “Echorouk,” the court issued a provisional measure suspending the implementation of CAF’s decision until a final ruling is issued.
The decision will remain suspended until the final ruling is issued, and consequently, the Africa Cup of Nations title is in a state of “legal suspension” until the case is definitively decided.
The Algerian newspaper remains the sole source of this news, while the court has not officially announced or notified either party of this decision so far.
