CAF announces the date of the draw for the quarter-finals of CL and Confederation Cup

The Confederation of African Football announced in an official statement that the draw for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League and Confederation will be held on Tuesday, March 13.

The draw is scheduled to be held at the CAF headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the Confederation draw starting first at 2 p.m., then the Champions League draw at 3 p.m.

Perhaps this is one of the rare times when the Arab presence is very weak in the Champions League in particular, as there are only Al-Ahly of Egypt, the defending champion, and Esperance of Tunisia.

In general, the first classification in the draw will include Al-Ahly, ASEC, Sun Downs, and Petro Atletico, while the second classification includes Esperance, Mazembe, Simba, and Young Africans.

In the confederation, the Arab presence is strong, led by Zamalek of Egypt, Ittihad Al-Asimah of Algeria, Modern Future of Egypt, Nahdet Berkane of Morocco, and Abu Salim of Libya.

The first classification will include Zamalek, USM, Dreams, and Nahdet Berkane, while the second classification will include Future, Abu Salim, Rivers United, and Stade Malien.

It remains to be noted that teams that played each other in one group cannot meet in the quarter-finals, but two teams from the same country can meet without a crisis.

It is also worth noting that the draw will determine the path of the teams until the final match, and will also determine where the home and away match will be held in the final.
