The ter Stegen-Barcelona saga continues, and the latest chapter is that the Catalan club may be forced to rely on the German international as the team’s starting goalkeeper at the beginning of next season due to the stifling financial crisis.
Barcelona signed goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who is expected to be the starting goalkeeper next season, with his replacement being Szczesny, who just renewed his two-year contract with the Blaugrana.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is currently facing a real dilemma regarding the registration of Garcia and Szczesny, and there are suspicions that the process will not be completed before the end of next August.
So far, Barcelona has great hope that the club will reach a 1:1 ratio by the beginning of August. Then, the registration of Garcia and Szczesny will be much easier. Otherwise, the two players will not be available until the crisis is resolved.
In this case, Hansi Flick will have to rely on Ter Stegen as the starting goalkeeper and Iñaki Peña as his backup, as if nothing had happened!

Ter Stegen has rejected offers from Galatasaray and Monaco in recent days, despite Flick informing him that he would be the third-choice goalkeeper. He remains determined to stay and fight for his position, and it appears that fate will grant him the opportunity to start at the start of the season.
Barcelona’s season kicks off with an away match against Real Mallorca on August 16. If things continue as planned, Ter Stegen will play this match, as well as the matches against Levante and Rayo Vallecano, until the beginning of September, pending developments regarding Garcia and Szczesny’s registrations.
