Al Ahly player Hamza Abdel Karim is on the verge of joining Barcelona in the upcoming winter transfer window after a significant breakthrough in negotiations between the two clubs in recent days.
Al Ahly had rejected the Catalan club’s initial offer in recent weeks after Barça sought to finalize the deal almost for free.
In recent hours, Barcelona submitted another offer, which Mahmoud El Khatib’s administration has tentatively accepted. The offer proposes a free loan for Hamza Abdel Karim, with an option to buy next summer for €5 million.
Al Ahly is not opposed to the free loan option, but is currently negotiating two points: first, increasing the purchase option and structuring the payment plan more effectively than the current offer; and second, including clauses during the loan period that would guarantee them a financial return should the player perform well at Barcelona.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 17-year-old player had agreed to join Barcelona and wanted nothing more than to wear the blue and red jersey starting next January.
Abdel Karim had been on the radar of several major European clubs, most notably Bayern Munich, but his desire and pressure on Al Ahly practically sealed the deal in favor of Barcelona, making him the first Egyptian in history to wear the Catalan giants’ shirt.
