Bradley Barcola has decided against extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, opening the door for a potential departure during the current summer transfer window, despite being under contract with the reigning European champions until June 2028.
The 23-year-old French winger’s decision is driven by sporting considerations rather than financial motives. Although PSG offered a substantial pay rise, Barcola remains dissatisfied with his role under Luis Enrique, having frequently served as a bench option in major matches.
Barcola’s stance has alerted several top European clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea—though Chelsea is currently not considered a primary destination. Liverpool appears to be the most serious suitor, viewing the player as an ideal reinforcement for their left flank.
Barcola joined PSG from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2023 for €45 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Since his arrival, he has made 152 appearances across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 35 assists.
During the 2025–2026 season, the French international recorded 13 goals and 7 assists. He played a key role in securing three consecutive Ligue 1 titles for PSG, as well as back-to-back UEFA Champions League trophies in 2025 and 2026, despite starting on the bench in both continental finals.
On the international stage, Barcola was instrumental in France’s run to the 2026 World Cup semi-finals, where Les Bleus finished fourth. He scored three goals and provided one assist during the tournament, finding the net against Senegal and Sweden before scoring again against England in the third-place match.
Having developed in Lyon’s youth academy before making his senior debut in 2021, Barcola enjoyed a breakout 2022–2023 campaign that earned him his move to the French capital, where he quickly earned his first senior cap for France in 2024.
Refusing an extension does not imply Barcola will force a rift with PSG, but his decision grants interested suitors a clear window to act. Reports indicate that PSG could demand around €120 million to sanction his departure this summer.
