Grecy Benzema, Karim’s brother, expressed his dissatisfaction with the technical decisions made by coach Marcelo Gallardo in the Al Hilal match, considering that he “committed a crime.”
Since the Argentine took over the task of coaching Al-Ittihad, he chose to rely on Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah in the position of the outright striker, while relying on Benzema in the left wing position.
This continued reliance on Benzema during Al-Ittihad’s 4-1 loss to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final.
After the match, Grisi exploded in anger because of the matter, and said in statements reported by the media, “You play with Karim Benzema as a left winger? This is a crime.”
He also added, “There is no logic in what is happening. You have to respect football, the player and his abilities.”
In general, Benzema’s relationship with his coach Gallardo has been bad since last January, and because of that, the Frenchman wanted to leave the federation, but the administration stuck with him.
According to Saudi media, the relationship is getting worse day after day, and perhaps Benzema is closer to leaving Al-Ittihad next summer after his brother’s statements.
