Barcelona legend Gerard Pique admitted that Real Madrid was subjected to great injustice by the referee of the Valencia match, Gil Manzano.
The referee blew the final whistle for the match, one moment before the Royal Club scored the winning goal through Jude Bellingham, in a controversial decision that caused many objections from all parties.
When Pique was asked about his opinion on what happened, he replied, “This referee sent me off in my last match against Osasuna without doing anything. We all know his level well.”
He also added, “He is an international referee and must be at the highest level, but what is strange is that he has many controversial decisions that I cannot understand yet.”
He concluded, “I can understand Real Madrid’s anger. This time they really have the right to complain. He should have ended the match early but blew the whistle late. What he did has no justification.”
Spanish journalist Edo Garcia confirmed that Manzano admitted to him that he realizes the severity of the mistake he made in the match, but he maintains his calm.
