For the second time in the last 6 months, Antonio Rudiger found himself under racist attack because of his conversion to Islam.
Before last Ramadan, Rüdiger posted a picture of himself raising his index finger upward, which is the well-known sign for Muslims that God is one.
Rudiger was then attacked by a German journalist and considered it a terrorist signal, before the German Football Association intervened and sued the journalist on charges of racism.
The matter happened again, but this time in Euro 2024, where UEFA took pictures of all the players participating in the competition, and Rudiger’s picture had the same reference.
Because of it, the Real Madrid star was attacked again with racist expressions and accusations that it was a gesture with political connotations.
The player immediately commented on this and confirmed that the photographer was the one who asked him to take a picture in this way, and that there were dozens of players who took pictures with the same gesture as well.
UEFA also intervened that Rudiger’s reference to celebration did not contain any political insinuations.
