Bayern Munich has finalized an agreement with a player Hansi Flick had dreamed of joining Barcelona due to the Catalan club’s difficult financial situation.
According to Sky Sports, Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has given Bayern Munich the green light to finalize the deal and will soon undergo a medical.
Tah, who has been at Leverkusen for the past eight years, ended his contract with the pharmaceutical company this summer. He is free to join any club, and his name has been widely touted as a potential transfer to Barcelona.
In the final hours, Tah made his decision and decided not to wait for Barcelona or any other club. He has joined Bayern Munich, with a four-year contract expected to be signed in the coming days.
Tah had to wait until mid-transfer window for Barcelona to sell one of its players and finance the deal. However, the German international decided that this wasn’t the best option for his career and decided to continue his career in the Bundesliga with a third major club, after Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg.
It’s worth noting that the 25-year-old Tah was also linked with a move to Real Madrid with the arrival of Xabi Alonso, but the club ultimately opted to sign young defender Den Huijsen from Bournemouth for €58 million.
