Bayern Munich completed one of the largest loan deals in football history when they agreed with Chelsea to acquire the services of striker Nicolas Jackson.
The Bavarian club’s management decided in mid-August to limit its summer signings to signing only players on loan to strengthen coach Vincent Kompany’s squad, with the intention of returning to work in full force next summer.
Bayern began exploring the option of signing Nicolas Jackson, who had wanted to leave Chelsea since the beginning of the summer, and the Germans reached an agreement with the Senegalese international on all the details.
After arduous negotiations with Chelsea, Bayern Munich will loan Jackson for €15 million for one year, with a non-obligatory purchase option added to the contract for €65 million next summer.
Jackson’s loan to Bayern Munich will be the fourth-largest loan in football history, after Álvaro Morata from Atlético Madrid to Juventus (€20 million), Morata from Chelsea to Atlético Madrid (€18 million), and Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis to Tottenham (€16 million).
Bayern Munich’s work will reportedly not stop there, as sporting director Max Eberl is seeking to sign another player on loan before the end of the summer transfer window to increase the number of attacking options available to coach Kompany.
