Bayern Munich has intensified negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen player Jonathan Tah in the final hours to sign him on a free transfer during the next summer transfer window.
Tah had previously announced that he would leave Leverkusen at the end of his contract after the pharmaceutical company refused to allow him to join Bayern Munich last summer during the final days of the transfer window.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona were in very advanced negotiations with Tah, reaching their peak last December. Ronald Araujo agreed to renew his contract and Eric Garcia continued, which stalled the negotiations.
Tah remains a target for Barcelona due to the close relationship between his agent, Pini Zahavi, and Joan Laporta’s administration. However, the last few hours witnessed significant intervention from Bayern Munich, which aspires to sign the German international to succeed Eric Dier.
Initially, Tah’s first option is a move to Barcelona. However, Barça’s Financial Fair Play issues, which will undoubtedly delay the deal, make a move to Bayern a strong possibility for the 26-year-old.
Tah is one of Hansi Flick’s favorites and could be the ideal choice to bolster the central defense, given speculation that Ronald Araujo, in particular, will leave next summer after his disappointing season at Camp Nou.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid has also shown interest in Tah following the arrival of Xabi Alonso, a coach under whom the defender’s talents have exploded.
