Mundo Deportivo revealed that Barcelona rejected Chelsea’s first official offer for Fermín López, and Joan Laporta’s administration also set a price for the Spanish star.
The Blues made an offer to Barcelona for only €50 million for López, which Barcelona considered too low given the player’s quality, even though they desperately needed to sell him to sign new players.
According to the latest report, Barcelona’s management, based on the wishes of coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco, wants López to stay and believes there are other solutions for signing players other than losing one of the most prominent midfielders at Camp Nou.
In any case, Barcelona’s management has left the door open for López to leave, provided they receive a substantial financial offer of up to €90 million. So far, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will make an offer of this amount just hours before the end of the transfer window.
The 22-year-old López’s position on leaving Barcelona remains unclear. It has been announced that he wants to continue with the Catalan club, but he has not confirmed this to the media. He has not informed Chelsea officials of his refusal to join the Blues, but he has not made a final decision either.
Fermin is participating in Barcelona training normally and will be present for the match against Rayo Vallecano. Surprisingly, however, he and his entourage have not issued any statements confirming his desire to continue with Barça, even though it is known within the club that this is his priority so far.
