Barcelona star Ronald Araujo suffered a severe injury while participating in Uruguay’s victory over Brazil on penalty kicks in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa America.
Araujo was injured while trying to intercept a ball from the Brazilian player Arana, and because of this, he left the field crying and was replaced.
According to Uruguayan coach Marcelo Bielsa, Araujo suffered a severe muscle injury and will not be able to participate with his country in the Copa semi-finals or final.
At the same time, the media indicate that the accurate diagnosis of the Barça star’s injury is a muscle tear in the back of the right thigh.
Because of this, Araujo is unlikely to participate in the pre-season with Barcelona, and he will likely miss at least the first two rounds in the Spanish League.
Thus, Araujo will join his colleague Pedri, who injured his knee with the Spain national team in Euro 2024 and will need at least a month to return again to participate in the matches.
