Barcelona confirmed in an official statement that Ferran Torres will not participate in Saturday’s La Liga match against Girona as a precaution to prevent aggravation of the injury he sustained last week with the Spanish national team.
Torres left the La Roja camp at his own request due to muscle fatigue. Medical tests indicated that he did not suffer a serious injury and simply needed rest. He was expected to be available for the Girona match.
Barcelona’s statement said that the club’s medical staff decided to keep Torres out of the Girona match as a precaution due to discomfort caused by overload in his left hamstring.
Barcelona confirmed that the 25-year-old should be ready to participate in next Tuesday’s Champions League match against Olympiacos.
With Torres’ absence, Barcelona is virtually without an attacking lineup, with the exception of Marcus Rashford and youngster Rooney Bardghji, along with Lamine Yamal, who Flick has announced is currently unable to play 90 minutes.
Sport reported that Flick has begun testing left-back Alejandro Balde on the right wing to compensate for the absences from the Girona match, with Marcus Rashford as a striker and Bardghji on the left.
It should be noted that Raphinha is expected to be fit for the El Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26, while Lewandowski and Olmo will likely be out until December.
