Barcelona have placed German defender Finn Jeltsch on their potential target list to reinforce the heart of their defense, following impressive performances by the 20-year-old with VfB Stuttgart.
Reports indicate that the Catalan club dispatched a scout to observe Jeltsch live during Stuttgart’s 3–1 victory over Viking Stavanger in the UEFA Champions League, marking a concrete escalation from general monitoring to direct scouting.
The match also drew representatives from Inter Milan, alongside several Premier League clubs and Real Madrid, who are keeping tabs on the player as part of their own defensive rebuilding plans.
Barcelona have long searched for a center-back capable of developing within a system that relies on a high defensive line, having postponed defensive reinforcements last summer in favor of prioritizing urgent attacking signings.
While the squad currently avoids an immediate numerical deficit—boasting Pau Cubarsí, Ronald Araújo, Eric García, and Andreas Christensen, who extended his deal through 2028—the board remains keen on securing long-term depth and mitigating injury disruptions.
Jeltsch transferred from Nuremberg to Stuttgart in February 2025, signing a contract running until 2030 after breaking into 2. Bundesliga starting lineups at just 17 before rapidly establishing himself in the Bundesliga.
The defender previously won both the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and the FIFA U-17 World Cup with Germany in 2023. However, no formal offers have been submitted yet, keeping Barcelona among a broad pool of interested suitors rather than an active negotiator.
