Barcelona star was excluded from Spain’s squad for Euro 2024

Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente announced the exclusion of 3 players from the final list of “La Roja” that will participate in the Euro 2024 competition.

De La Fuente called up 29 players to the initial list, but he had to exclude 3 players due to UEFA rules, which stipulate that each national team list must include only 26 players.

Among those excluded from the Spanish national team was the promising Barcelona star, Pau Cubarsí. Perhaps this exclusion is not surprising and is in the interest of the player and his club.

It is expected that Cubarsí will be part of the Spain national team that will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Barcelona had informed the Spanish Federation of the necessity of either the player participating in the Euros or the Olympics to prevent a repeat of Pedri’s scenario and injuries.

It seems that Spain chose to rely on the 17-year-old Cubarsí for the Olympics only, so coach De La Fuente officially excluded him from the final team roster.

Meanwhile, De La Fuente announced the exclusion of Girona’s brilliant star Alex Garcia, along with Atletico Madrid player Marcos Llorente.

It is noteworthy that the Spanish national team is in the “Group of Death” for Euro 2024, next to the defending champion, Italy, the third in the world, Croatia, and the Albanian national team.
