Barcelona Sets New Date for Return to Camp Nou

Barcelona has set a new date for its return to play at Camp Nou, hoping the club will secure the necessary permits within that time.

Barcelona was originally scheduled to begin the season at Camp Nou again, but ongoing construction work has hampered the necessary government approvals for the stadium to host matches and host fans.

According to Sport, Barcelona will also play its next La Liga match against Getafe at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, which hosted Valencia’s last match.

Barcelona officials hope to complete the necessary construction within the next two weeks and, consequently, obtain the necessary permits. This would mean Hansi Flick’s first match at Camp Nou would be against Real Sociedad on Sunday, September 28.

In this case, the stadium would meet UEFA’s requirements and would also host Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League match.

Barcelona’s backup plan, should this plan fail, is for the team to play Sociedad at the Johan Cruyff Arena, with PSG’s match at Montjuïc Stadium.
