Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona will secure Joan Garcia’s contract in the same way it secured Lamine Yamal a month ago.
The 17-year-old has renewed his contract for six years with a €1 billion release clause.
Convinced of Garcia’s quality and that he will guard the Catalan club’s goal for many years, Barça’s management agreed to a six-year contract instead of a five-year one.
In addition to the benefit of securing the player’s contract for an additional year, the six-year contract offers Barcelona another significant financial advantage in the face of strict Financial Fair Play regulations.
Garcia has agreed, and his representatives have exchanged documents with Barcelona officials, the first step before the official announcement of the deal.
Barça’s management is expected to activate Garcia’s €25 million release clause with Espanyol in the next few hours, and then officially announce the completion of the deal.
