Chelsea’s management offered Barcelona a swap deal between two stars from both clubs, but the Catalans rejected the idea.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the deal would have seen Christopher Nkunku move to Barcelona in exchange for Fermin Lopez.
Nkunku had been looking to leave Chelsea since last January and postponed the idea until this summer. Barcelona had shown interest in him, but the deal fell short of the initial bid.
Chelsea tried to capitalize on this interest, especially since Barcelona wanted to sign a left winger this summer, to conclude this swap deal.
However, as soon as the idea reached coach Hansi Flick, he immediately rejected it, emphasizing Fermin Lopez’s significant role in midfield and that the deal would never be profitable for Barcelona.
This was not only Flick’s opinion; it was also shared by president Joan Laporta, and the matter was finally closed.
It’s worth noting that Barcelona’s management doesn’t mind Lopez’s departure, but only if the club receives an irresistible offer of more than €60 million.
