Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona is close to recovering two of its injured stars, providing some comfort to Catalan fans following Sunday’s 2-1 El Clásico loss to Real Madrid.
According to the report, goalkeeper Juan Garcia, who has been out for over a month, is making an ideal recovery and is likely to be available for next Sunday’s match against Elche, even if he’s on the bench.
Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski returned to Barcelona training on Monday, a significant and welcome development that confirms his absence will not extend until the end of the next international break, as previously announced.
If all goes well for the 36-year-old, he could be available for the Champions League match against Club Brugge on Wednesday, November 5, or the La Liga match against Celta Vigo the following Sunday.
It remains unknown whether Barcelona will allow Lewandowski to join the Polish national team during the international break, especially since his injury occurred while playing for his country. He was severely criticized by Catalan officials for not leaving the Lithuania match early when he felt pain, which exacerbated the injury and led to his prolonged absence.
With the return of Garcia and Lewandowski, only Rafinha, Gavi, and Ter Stegen are currently injured in Hansi Flick’s squad. The Brazilian international is expected to return in a month, while Ter Stegen is expected to return in January, and Gavi’s return is likely to be delayed until February at the earliest.
