Barcelona receives a shock regarding Gavi’s injury… and a long absence is expected!

Barcelona will lose its young star player, Gavi, for a long period due to injury, according to Sport newspaper on Tuesday, in shocking news for coach Hansi Flick and the Catalan club’s fans.

Barcelona had announced that Gavi was suffering from pain in his right knee, which caused him to miss the recent match against Rayo Vallecano. It was said that the club deliberately omitted the word “injury” to emphasize that the issue was temporary and not serious.

However, recent reports revealed that Gavi’s pain is not limited to what the medical staff had expected, especially since the injury occurred in the same knee where the 21-year-old tore his cruciate ligament two years ago.

Initially, Flick decided to exclude Gavi from the matches against Valencia in La Liga and Newcastle in the Champions League, pending a final decision on the club’s next medical step with the player.

The club is currently considering having Gavi undergo arthroscopic surgery to clean his right knee joint and address the root cause of the problem. In this case, the player will be out for at least a month.

If Barcelona decides to pursue this option, Gavi will initially miss seven matches: five in the league against Valencia, Getafe, Oviedo, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla, in addition to the Champions League matches against Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain. He will return against Girona on October 19.
