Barcelona’s management has settled on its second summer signing, despite the considerable controversy surrounding it in recent weeks.
The Catalan club has already signed Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, with an official announcement expected in the next few hours.
The second signing will be Nico Williams, with all parties within Barça agreeing on the idea of signing him, with the club favoring him over Liverpool star Luis Diaz.
The Athletic Bilbao star is also very keen on a move to Barcelona, even to the point of being willing to take a pay cut to accommodate the Catalan club’s financial situation.
According to Sport, Joan Laporta is currently studying the possibility of signing Williams, in accordance with La Liga’s financial regulations. If approved, the deal will be completed as soon as possible.
The 22-year-old Williams will cost just €60 million, the value of his release clause with Bilbao.
Williams has reportedly received higher-value offers in recent days from Bayern Munich and Arsenal, but he has told those interested that his primary goal is to play for Barcelona.
