Mundo Deportivo reported that one of Barcelona’s young players informed the club’s management of his desire to leave, and his request was approved.
The report refers to young player Jan Virgili, who is seen as the future of Barcelona’s attack, but has yet to reach the first team.
According to the report, the 19-year-old Virgili does not want to play again for Barcelona’s reserve team, which will participate in the Spanish fourth division next season. He believes his potential qualifies him for the first team, while coach Hansi Flick has a different opinion.
Barcelona’s management shares Flick’s opinion and believes that Virgili still needs further development to be ready for first-team football. This has increased the player’s desire to leave immediately, heading to La Liga or at least the second division.
Virgili, who primarily plays on the right wing, has received an attractive offer from Mallorca. Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to begin in the coming days to finalize the deal, with sporting director Deco accepting the player’s desire to leave.
Virgili’s transfer to Mallorca may not bring Barcelona much money, but it will also provide an opportunity for the player to perform at a high professional level, with the Blaugrana, as usual, retaining a buy-back clause or a significant percentage of any future resale.
