Radio Cadena Cope revealed that Barcelona made a staggering financial profit in just 24 hours from the sale of Lamine Yamal’s new number 10 jersey.
Barcelona announced on Wednesday that it had awarded the historic number 10 jersey to Yamal following Ansu Fati’s departure to Monaco. The Spanish international joins the list of Barça legends who have worn this historic jersey, including Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho.
According to the latest report, 70,000 copies of Yamal’s new jersey were sold in 170 countries around the world, generating profits estimated at €10 million in the last 24 hours alone—a historic figure by any standard.
Part of Barcelona’s plan for Yamal to wear the number 10 jersey, in addition to the sporting recognition of him as the most important player in Hansi Flick’s squad, was for the club to generate economic profits from sponsorship and jersey sales. It appears that Joan Laporta’s management has successfully achieved its goals.
The 18-year-old began his career with Barcelona wearing the number 41 shirt, then wore the number 27 shirt, and played the entire last season wearing the number 19 shirt. Now, he begins a pressure-filled journey wearing Lionel Messi’s historic jersey.
