Al Ahly is demanding an inflated transfer fee for Hamza Abdelkarim to Barcelona in the upcoming winter transfer window, a move that has reportedly angered the Catalan club’s management in recent days.
According to the newspaper AS, the gap between Al Ahly’s asking price for the 17-year-old and Barcelona’s offer is more than double, preventing the deal from being finalized at this time.
Barcelona’s latest offer reached €1.8 million, while Al Ahly wants the total transfer fee, including add-ons, loan fees, and other charges, to reach €5 million. Realistically, Barcelona cannot agree to this.
However, the player’s own desire to join Barcelona and his determination to seize this opportunity over any other European offer remains a key factor giving the Blaugrana hope of finalizing the deal and reaching a compromise that satisfies all parties.
Mahmoud El Khatib’s administration remains open to negotiations, and according to AS, Barcelona officials are optimistic that a breakthrough is imminent, with the Egyptian youth international set to join the Catalan club’s reserve team.
It’s worth noting that Hamza Abdel Karim has attracted interest from several major European clubs. Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon reportedly made offers for the young player, but he has rejected them, preferring to wait and see the outcome of the negotiations between Barcelona and Al Ahly.
