The newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” confirmed that the Barcelona administration will enter with all force into the line of trying to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, during the summer of 2025.
Wirtz is currently considered a big target for Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, and it has been said that he may join the royal club along with his coach Xabi Alonso, who is expected to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 21-year-old is highly regarded within Barcelona, and sporting director Deco is one of the biggest admirers of his abilities and wants to do everything to include him at Camp Nou.
From a practical standpoint, the idea of contracting with Wirtz in Barcelona seems difficult or impossible, given the high financial cost expected for one of the most important talents in the world, in addition to the interest of major clubs in obtaining his services.
Real Madrid is not the only one that will try to sign Wirtz. Bayern Munich has previously indicated through its honorary president Uli Hoeneß that it is willing to pay 100 million euros to sign the Leverkusen player in 2025.
There are two things that Barcelona is betting on, the first is that the player previously announced that he is a Blaugrana fan, and thus he may prefer to move to him instead of Real or Bayern, and the other is that there will be an economic breakthrough during the current year that enables Barcelona to pay 100 million euros or more to sign him.
It remains to be noted that President Joan Laporta’s term in Barcelona will end in 2025, and as he seeks to run again for the presidency of the club, he will try to include a major player, whether Wirtz or the other option, Erling Haaland.
