According to Mundo Deportivo, citing TEAMtalk, the two Spanish giants have held exploratory talks with Tottenham, at a time when the player is considering a return to La Liga more than five years after his departure.

Tottenham are demanding €88.6 million to approve Porro’s sale, a figure that could make the deal the most expensive in history for a right-back.

Barcelona view Porro as an option capable of providing the right flank with greater speed and attacking audacity, allowing Jules Koundé to return permanently to central defense without needing to deploy Eric García or João Cancelo across multiple positions, in addition to the chemistry Porro has shown with Lamine Yamal for the Spanish national team.

As for Real Madrid, they need to increase competition in the position following Dani Carvajal’s departure to Getafe and the inconsistent form of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Porro would provide them with a player familiar with La Liga who can combine playing as a traditional full-back or an advanced winger.

The operation is further complicated by Porro signing a contract extension last June running until 2031, with an option for an additional year, giving Tottenham a strong negotiating position—despite reports indicating the player’s desire to return to Spain to safeguard his international spot.

Porro made 47 appearances for Tottenham last season, scoring two goals, bringing his tally to 152 appearances since his move from Sporting CP. He also previously scored three goals and provided seven assists in the league during the 2023–2024 season, and won the UEFA Europa League with his club in 2025.

On the international front, the 27-year-old full-back was part of the Spain squad that won the 2025 UEFA Nations League, before playing a prominent role in winning the 2026 World Cup, scoring against France in the semi-finals. This background explains both the Spanish giants’ interest in him and Tottenham’s insistence on his hefty price tag.
