Sky Sports reports that Barcelona has set its sights on Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt for a potential summer transfer.
Dortmund announced a few days ago that negotiations to renew Brandt’s contract had broken down, meaning the German international will leave Signal Iduna Park when his contract expires in July.
According to the latest report, Barcelona is considering signing the 29-year-old Brandt on a free transfer, especially since coach Hansi Flick knows him well from the German national team.
The Catalan club has not yet made a final decision on whether to pursue the former Bayer Leverkusen star and prefers to wait until at least the end of the season.
If Barça does decide to sign Brandt, they will face stiff competition from several top clubs across Europe’s top five leagues.
Arsenal is among the clubs most eager to acquire Brandt, although the player is also attracting interest from other Premier League and Serie A clubs. It is worth noting that Brandt received significant offers from the Premier League last winter, but he rejected them hoping to renew his contract with Dortmund and wanting to finish the season with the Black and Yellows.
