It’s no secret that Alvarez is Barcelona’s primary target to succeed either Robert Lewandowski or Ferran Torres next season. However, the high cost of the deal, which is practically incompatible with the club’s current financial difficulties, is preventing the transfer.

According to the latest report, Barcelona offered to include one of their players (whose identity was not revealed) in the deal to reduce the transfer fee for the Argentine international, but Atletico Madrid’s management categorically rejected the offer.

The Rojiblancos are determined to receive at least €100 million for Alvarez without any player exchange deals.

Joan Laporta’s administration has begun to realize that signing Álvarez is virtually impossible, and has therefore started considering other attacking options. Omar Marmoush and Victor Osimhen remain the most talked-about targets at Camp Nou.

Manchester City are reportedly open to selling Marmoush for €50 million next summer, a figure well within Barcelona’s grasp. However, there are serious doubts about Osimhen’s mentality due to the manner in which he left Napoli two years ago.
