Since January, reports have linked Alvarez with a move to the Camp Nou, with some suggesting the player has requested a transfer. Amidst interest from PSG and Arsenal, rumors recently peaked with claims that Barcelona had submitted a €100 million official bid for the forward.

Sarcastic Bids and “Fake News” Accusations

Fed up with the speculation, Atletico launched a series of mocking tweets. The club jokingly “offered” concert tickets and bags of sunflower seeds to sign Barça stars Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha.

The Madrid-based club didn’t stop there, taking a direct jab at Barça’s sporting director, Deco:

“We would like to categorically deny having made an offer to Deco to join our scouting team in the Brazilian market. No, Atletico would never do such a thing.”

The club further criticized what they termed a “campaign of harassment” against Alvarez, citing malicious leaks, “fake news,” and unethical phone calls made right before direct matches.
