Atalanta wins Leverkusen and wins the Europa League (video)

Atalanta won the Europa League title following a sweeping victory over Bayer Leverkusen, 3-0, in the match held in the Irish capital, Dublin.

The Italian club took the lead in the first half with two goals through Ademola Lookman, who returned and scored the third and hat-trick in the second half in the 75th minute.

This is the first major championship that Atalanta has achieved since the sixties, specifically in 1963 when it won the Italian Cup.

Other than that, Atalanta only achieved the Italian second division and third division, and its most notable achievement was occupying second place in the Italian league.

Perhaps the loss will compensate for coach Gasperini’s squad for losing the Italian Cup title last week after losing to Juventus 1-0 at the Olimpico Stadium.

In the same context, Atalanta ended Bayer Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten streak, which extended over 51 matches in all tournaments, which included achieving the Bundesliga title for the first time in the history of the German club.

Likewise, Xabi Alonso’s hopes of achieving the historic treble for this season have ended, and he can only achieve the domestic double if he wins over Kaiserslautern in the German Cup final next Saturday.
