At 40, Dzeko Moves to a German Giant

Edin Dzeko will continue his impressive career in European football despite turning 40 in less than two months.

The Bosnian star, with his illustrious career, currently plays for Fiorentina in Serie A, but he is unhappy and wants to leave La Viola this winter due to limited playing time in one of the club’s worst seasons in recent years.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Dzeko is set to join Schalke, one of the giants of German football, currently playing in the German second division for the second consecutive season.

Schalke has reached an agreement with Dzeko on all personal terms, and the player preferred the Royal Blues to Paris FC in Ligue 1, even though the German offer was less lucrative.

Only an agreement between Schalke and Fiorentina remains to finalize the deal, but it is highly likely he will arrive in the next few days, especially given the player’s insistence on joining the Gelsenkirchen-based club.

This will be Dzeko’s second stint in German football, following his debut with Wolfsburg in 2007, before his move to Manchester City in the summer of 2011 for €37 million.

Dzeko has had an exceptional career in Europe. In addition to Wolfsburg and Manchester City, he has played for Roma, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahçe. His most recent experience was last summer with Fiorentina, where he scored just two goals in 361 minutes of play across 18 matches.
