Arsenal overcome Chelsea to reach the 2026 Carabao Cup final

Arsenal reached the 2026 Carabao Cup final after defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the second leg of their semi-final tie at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had won the first leg 3-2 at Stamford Bridge, securing their place in the final with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Arsenal’s only goal in the second leg came from Kai Havertz, who capitalized on Chelsea’s push forward in search of an equalizer. He led a counter-attack, rounded goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, and slotted the ball into the net in the 97th minute.

Arsenal will now await the winner of the other semi-final between Manchester City and Newcastle United, scheduled for Wednesday evening. Pep Guardiola’s side won the first leg 2-0 at St. James’ Park.

The final will be held in March. This is Arsenal’s first appearance in the Carabao Cup final since the 2017-18 season, when Arsène Wenger’s side lost 3-0 to Manchester City.

The Carabao Cup is one of Arsenal’s most elusive competitions, having won it only twice in its history, most recently in 1993. The Gunners have lost the final six times previously.
