Arsenal dealt a blow as Eze’s absence worsens

It is now certain that Eberechi Eze will miss a crucial period of Arsenal’s season, with fears he could be sidelined for more than a month due to injury.

The 27-year-old suffered a calf injury during last week’s win over Bayer Leverkusen, an injury that also ruled him out of Sunday’s League Cup final defeat to Manchester City and forced him to withdraw from the latest England squad.

Initial reports suggest the attacking midfielder could be out for four to six weeks. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that Eze will undergo a final scan this week to determine the full extent of the injury.

However, losing Eze would be a significant setback for the Gunners as they aim to compete for three trophies, with crucial Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup fixtures looming.

Meanwhile, the imminent return of captain Martin Ødegaard will help mitigate the impact of Eze’s absence. Ødegaard has been sidelined for a month with a knee injury, but there are high hopes that he will be fit to play after the international break.

Eze will initially miss Arsenal’s FA Cup matches against Southampton, the Champions League home and away legs against Sporting Lisbon, and the Premier League fixtures against Bournemouth, Manchester City, and Newcastle.

The match against Fulham, scheduled for May 2nd, could very well see Eze’s return, and the player is working hard to recover in the hope of being available for the Newcastle game on April 25th.
