The Relevo network revealed a call between Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in 2022, which was the main reason for the French star’s move to the Royal Club in 2024.
Mbappe was one step away from moving to Merengue in the summer of 2022, before he surprised everyone with his decision to continue with Paris Saint-Germain and renew his contract for two years.
According to the report, a few days after he signed his contracts with PSG, Mbappe called Perez and apologized to him for doing so, and also assured him of his remorse for taking this step.
Because of this call, Perez decided not to close Real Madrid’s door in Mbappe’s face, especially since the president felt the extent of the political and economic pressures that the player was exposed to at the time.
During that period, French President Emmanuel Macron himself intervened to convince the 25-year-old to continue at the Parc des Princes stadium, and Paris’s offer to him was fantastic from a financial standpoint.
In the end, the plan went as the Madrid president and Mbappe wanted. The player continued for two years and then announced his departure. It was a matter of time before he achieved his dream of wearing the Royal Club shirt.
