Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his great disappointment with the level of the royal club against Real Betis.
Real suffered its fourth defeat this season in La Liga, and is on the verge of dropping to third place and moving away from the top if Barcelona and Atletico Madrid win this round.
After the match, Ancelotti said, “We played a bad match, we started well but we did not have the same level of commitment and we lost control against a team that played better than us and deserved to win.”
He also added, “This is a severe blow, we have to respond. Losing at this stage of the season is difficult, we did not play well in this match. We lost 27 balls in the first half and Real Betis came back into the match.”
“We hope this game will wake us up for the next one. It seemed like we were more organised and cohesive recently, but today we couldn’t do it like in previous games,” he continued.
“If we play at the same level as we did today, we will lose to Atletico.”
Real Madrid will host Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
