In what at first glance may seem a shocking decision, Carlo Ancelotti will not call up Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior to the Brazil national team camp for the upcoming international break in early September.
Ancelotti has enjoyed a close relationship with Vinicius over recent years at Real Madrid, and the 24-year-old was a key part of his squad during the last international break.
According to Brazilian media, Ancelotti has decided to give Vinicius more time to rest and will not call him up for the upcoming international break, especially since the player will miss the first match against Chile due to suspension.
Ancelotti believes that calling up Vinicius from Spain for the Bolivia match is unnecessary, as Brazil has already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup. For fear of injury or fatigue, it is better for him to remain on the bench. This is also an opportunity to try out some new players in his position with Brazil.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti has decided to call up another Real Madrid star, Rodrygo Goes, despite his limited participation with the club recently.
Among Ancelotti’s decisions is to rely on names he trusts, most notably Eder Militao, who has just recovered from a torn cruciate ligament. The Italian intends to immediately bring him back to lead Brazil’s defense.
It should be noted that Ancelotti will officially announce Brazil’s squad for the upcoming international break on August 25, with the first training session scheduled for early September.
