An Arab country is close to winning the bid to host the 2029 Club World Cup, according to the Saudi newspaper Al-Eqtisadiah.
Following the success of the first edition in the United States, several countries have emerged aspiring to host the 2029 World Cup, led by Morocco and Qatar, along with Spain and Brazil.
However, according to Al-Eqtisadiah, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the favorite to host the 2029 edition, thanks to its pioneering sports project and the available infrastructure capable of hosting the competition without disruption.
FIFA believes that the 2029 edition will be a good rehearsal for Saudi Arabia in preparation for the 2034 World Cup, which will feature 48 teams. The Kingdom will be the first country to host a tournament with such a large number of participants on its own.
It is likely that Saudi Arabia will be announced as the host of the next World Cup by the end of this year, scheduled for July 13 at MetLife Stadium in Miami, USA.
Only one Saudi team has secured their place in the World Cup so far: Jeddah giants Al-Ahli, after winning the 2025 AFC Champions League.
