Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has identified the new club he wants to join before the end of the current summer transfer window, but the Red Devils’ desired financial value remains the biggest obstacle to completing the deal.
The Argentine international has been out of the plans of coach Ruben Amorim since the end of last season. He was informed that he would not continue at Old Trafford, prompting him to begin searching for a new club and being linked with several clubs inside and outside the Premier League.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Garnacho informed United officials of his desire to move to Chelsea and no other club, noting that the player has already agreed on all personal terms with the Blues.
The Daily Mail reported that United’s management has reduced their financial demands for Garnacho to just £50 million, down from £70 million in January and earlier this summer.
However, this value remains too high for Chelsea, who want to close the deal for a maximum of £40 million. Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to begin in the coming days to resolve matters quickly without waiting for the final days of the transfer window.
It should be noted that Garnacho joined United in the summer of 2020 from Atlético Madrid, where he made 122 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 22 assists. He was on the verge of a move to Napoli, before the deal fell through due to the Red Devils’ high demands.
