Al-Nassr drew 2-2 with Al-Ettifaq in the eleventh round of the Saudi League, a match played Tuesday evening at Al-Ettifaq’s new stadium.
Al-Nassr had won all ten of their previous Saudi League matches, achieving the best start for any club in the competition’s history.
Ultimately, Jorge Jesus’s men’s winning streak came to an end against Al-Ettifaq, after the Knights of Najd failed to maintain their 2-1 away lead.
Georginio Wijnaldum gave Al-Ettifaq the lead in the first half, but João Félix and Cristiano Ronaldo then equalized and put Al-Nassr ahead.
Everyone thought the match was over and that Al-Nassr was on its way to another three points, before Wijnaldum scored his second goal of the game and his team’s second in the 80th minute.
With this setback for Al-Nassr, the competition for the Saudi League title reignites early, as Ronaldo’s teammates now have 31 points.
If Al-Hilal wins against Al-Kholoud on Wednesday, they will reduce the gap with Al-Nassr to just two points, while Al-Taawoun sits in third place with 28 points.
