Al-Nassr or Al-Ittihad? Mohamed Salah’s Next Saudi Club Revealed

Over the past few days, Mohamed Salah has been the talk of the Saudi league, with all media outlets indicating that the “Egyptian King” will end up in the Saudi league next summer. This is based on a mutual desire between him and Liverpool to part ways, coupled with an irresistible financial offer from the Saudis.

Saudi interest in Salah has existed since 2023, and the Reds star was close to joining Al-Ittihad at that time, but Jürgen Klopp blocked the deal at the last minute. Interest resurfaced in 2025, specifically from Al-Hilal, who wanted the Egyptian to bolster their squad in the Club World Cup, but that deal also fell through.

In recent days, it has been reported that Al-Nassr considers Salah their top choice to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, whose departure is expected next summer. Meanwhile, news has emerged in the past few hours about negotiations beginning between Al-Ittihad officials and the 33-year-old’s agent to discuss a potential transfer that would see him lead the Jeddah Tigers’ project after Karim Benzema.

Both Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad are showing simultaneous interest in Mohamed Salah, and the common thread between the two clubs is that they are both owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). This raises questions about how they will compete simultaneously for the player and how the deal will be finalized.

According to Saudi journalist Abdulaziz Al-Muraiseel, the matter is settled. If Salah moves to the Saudi league next June, it will be to Al-Ittihad, not Al-Nassr.

Al-Ittihad’s interest in Salah is longstanding, and they are the most eager to secure the Egyptian’s services. The PIF supports Al-Ittihad’s management’s desire to sign the player and believes that the “Tigers of Jeddah” are the most suitable club for him. The rumors linking Salah to Al-Ittihad may even be unfounded and have no basis in reality.

It is worth noting that Salah could earn €100 million annually with Al-Ittihad, and the Saudi club is prepared to offer Liverpool €80 million to buy out the remaining year of the legendary player’s contract at Anfield.
