Coach Simone Inzaghi has asked Al-Hilal’s management to sign a new defender before the end of the current summer transfer window, and the Saudi club has already decided on a new defender.
Journalist Sacha Talavero claims that Al-Hilal wants to sign young French defender Jérémy Jacquier, a star player at Rennes, although the deal appears extremely difficult at the moment.
Jacquier is considered one of the most prominent young defenders in the world and is therefore on the radar of several major clubs, including Real Madrid and Arsenal. Initially, the player prefers to remain in Europe.
The 21-year-old had previously renewed his contract with Rennes until 2029, with no release clause. Therefore, the value of the deal could initially exceed €50 million, given his club’s commitment to him.
Al-Hilal has already entered into negotiations with Jacquier’s agent recently, and the Saudi club is said to have made him a significant financial offer, given his age. However, the player has not yet made a final decision.
Jacquier spent last year on loan at Clermont and represented France’s Under-19 team at last summer’s European Youth Championship, where he was named in the tournament’s All-Star Team.
