Al Ahly star close to joining Valencia

Al Ahly’s Aliou Dieng has received a tempting offer from Valencia to join the Spanish club immediately during the current winter transfer window.

Over the past few months, Al Ahly has tried every possible way to renew the Malian player’s contract, but an agreement has never been reached due to Dieng’s desire to earn around $2 million annually.

Radio Valencia reported that the Bats’ management is monitoring Dieng’s situation and hopes to sign him this winter to bolster their midfield, especially since the cost of his transfer to the Mestalla Stadium would not be exorbitant.

Dieng’s contract with Al Ahly expires at the end of the current season, which puts the Red Devils in a weak negotiating position. Mahmoud El Khatib’s administration would be happy to sell him for a small fee rather than lose him for free at the end of the season.

Egyptian media outlets had previously confirmed that Al Ahly informed Dieng’s agent of their openness to selling him this January after renewal negotiations stalled, which bodes well for Valencia’s ability to finalize the deal without complications in the few remaining days before the transfer window closes.

It was also reported that Dieng submitted a formal request to Al Ahly to allow him to leave for Valencia, but it is still unknown what price Al Khatib’s administration will set to finalize the deal.

It is worth noting that Dieng’s name was also linked recently with a move to Girona to replace the injured Azzedine Ounahi, but the Catalan club’s sporting director later denied this.
