Al-Ahly announced in an official statement the closure of the transfer of Wessam Abu Ali after failing to reach an agreement with any of the clubs interested in signing him during the current summer transfer window.
According to the statement, Al-Ahly received offers from Al-Wasl of the UAE and Columbus Crew of the US for Abu Ali, but the Egyptian club insisted on at least $9.5 million to sell the player, ultimately scuttling the deal.
The statement confirmed that Wessam Abu Ali will continue with Al-Ahly next season as normal, given that his contract with the Red Devils still extends until the summer of 2029.
In the same context, Al-Ahly issued another statement confirming that it had received a letter of interest from Al-Akhdoud Club to sign Emam Ashour. Mahmoud El-Khatib’s management responded by asking about the financial consideration the Saudi club is willing to pay, but there has been no response so far.
Some interpreted this move as a message to Emam Ashour that the door is open for him to leave if he wishes, provided he receives a substantial financial compensation, contrary to what has been circulating in the Egyptian media in recent days.
Previous press reports confirmed that Al Ahly was seeking to enter into negotiations with Emam Ashour to renew his contract until the summer of 2029, with a first-class salary.
Al Ahly also announced the signing of Yassin Marei from Pharco, in a deal reportedly worth 50 million Egyptian Pound. Marei will be the new central defender and successor to Rami Rabia in coach José Ribeiro’s squad.
